SMART CITY APARTMENT BLOCK GETS GREEN LIGHT

The Planning Board granted planning permission for the construction of a mixed commercial and residential development within the existing Smart City project in Kalkara. The approved development will include an underground 800 car park facility, a commercial complex with a frontage onto the existing Laguna Walk, an elevated residents plaza with communal pool and landscaping, and an overlying residential complex.

Although the approved development slightly exceeds the height and gross floor area as approved in the outline permit, Smart City Malta agreed to have this additional height and floor space deducted from within two plots which in the approved Master Plan are the highest buildings in the higher part of Smart City. This will reduce the visual impact of Smart City from the Valetta.
