Published 29-04-2019
Closing date 14-06-2019

1. Background

Following Government's request to carry out a review of the 2015 Fuel Service Station Policy, the Planning Authority, after months of intense consultation with various entities, has published a new proposed policy framework for fuel stations. The proposed policy will guide the future evaluation of planning applications related only to the relocation of existing fuel stations which are currently having an adverse impact on urban areas due to their proximity to residences and more. The guidelines set out the parameters as to where existing fuel stations may be relocated to, the maximum footprint they can take up if located in certain areas, the maximum height a fuel station can be and other salient details. This proposed policy framework, should it get approved, will repeal the existing Fuel Service Stations Policy which was approved in April 2015.
