August, 30, 2017

A group of students from Faculté Des Métiers de l'Essonne from central France visited the Planning Authority as part of an educational programme they are carrying out in Malta. The students were presented with an overview about the Planning Authority and aspects of Malta’s Cultural heritage.
The students were welcomed by HR officer Ms Daniela Farrugia Camoin who briefed the students about the overall operations of the Planning Authority and the various responsibilities that fall under the Authority’s remit. The second part of the session was delivered by conservation specialist Joe Magro Conti who heads the Authority’s Heritage Planning Unit. He gave a presentation to the students on the local history and the development of urbanisation in Malta.

After the sessions, the group visited the Mapping Unit and were able to witness how maps are converted into valuable elements of Malta’s Geographic Information System.
